In the last weekend of July this year, Euro Cycle Tours were very proud to be a part of this year’s Townsville To Cairns Bike Ride – a ride which sees 360 people ride their bicycles 350km from Townsville to Cairns over 3 days.
Since the first ride back in 1999, the ride has raised over $6.2million for Children’s Cancer research and this money has been put towards research that has helped save children’s lives all across Australia.
We are proud to be a part of something so special. All of the riders endured the 360km ride with relative ease.
Sponsoring the TCBR Wombats group was great. It's a fantastic group with everyone looking after each other and making sure we got to Cairns in one piece.
Celebrations kicked off in Cairns to wind the weekend up – take a look at how the 3 days of cycling and celebration unfolded.
Making the ride extra special and close to the heart was a rider named Dicko, his boy Oscar was diagnosed with a cancer in late 2015, changing their lives forever. Oscar was in desperate need for help and this is where the experts came in. Oscar, his mum, dad and big sister are an amazing family and it really hit home hearing their story and riding with Dicko each day. To me, this was my why, why we are doing this ride and why we fundraise the money we do. We can never raise enough but the efforts of a community that is so strong and bands together makes it all the more special.
Congratulations to this year’s TCBR, raising over $460,000.00 for the Children’s Cancer Institute.
To all the volunteers, committee, sponsors and riders, it's a team effort and a solid team effort at that, CONGRATULATIONS!
